NEVER ASK WHY

NEVER ASK WHY

Who asked that question; who wants to know?

What exactly is the question?

Where were you when this question first occurred to you?

When did this first occur to you?

Why is this so important to you? (Never mind.)

How did you happen to develop this train of thought? (There, that wasn’t so difficult.)

Have you developed any theories in your quest for data?

Is there a point beyond which you will cease to wonder?

Does it bother you that all your friends have the answers to these questions?

Does it bother you that your friends haven’t a shred of evidence to support their answers to your questions?

OKAY I GET IT

lee_broom

REFORMER; I’m okay. You are not okay.

CONFORMIST: You’re okay I am not okay.

REBEL: I’m not okay and neither are you.

NON-CONFORMIST: I’m okay. You’re okay.

REFORMERS will sometimes support what you do

But their support is never of you

“Give up your old ways, they’re bad

Copy my ways, you’ll be glad

Do as I say

And you’ll be okay.

Give up the old for the new.”

CONFORMISTS will seem to support what you do

But their support is never of you

They admit their old ways are bad

To learn from you they’ll seem glad

They’ll do as you say

In the end you will pay

The results you will surely rue.

The REBEL when asked to step back in line

Will always say “No. I’m doing just fine.

Whatever you do , I won’t

Whatever you like, I don’t

I may not be much

But your out of touch

Now where is that glass of wine?”

The NON – CONFORMIST  says

“No, I’m okay

But thanks for suggesting anyway

Whatever you want is just fine

And I shall be happy with mine

So have a good life

That is void of strife

Be happy; enjoy the day.”

ONLY TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY? REALLY?

lee_broom

ONLY TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY? REALLY?

Why only two opinions to every issue?

Why only two political parties?

Two genders?

Why only left and right?

Right and wrong?

Good and bad?

Green and ripe?

I prefer  red white and blue.

Words that rhyme with orange.

And  twenty kinds of potato chips.

Kissing the lips of the women I loved and

Every kind of candy imaginable.

Think about it.

Just

Think

About it.

AND THE BEAT GOES ON

lee_broom

When opinions reek of danger and

Outlooks collide,

When bias hisses,

When judgment derides,

When prejudice misses

The mark,

It is the absence of “Hark”,

The dark temptation to seekers of Truth.

Alle heil der abend

As last light fails

And discourse galls

The light of Reason.

And feeds on

The mindless nod of

A thousand, million heads.

Shall we do this cries the headman

Sure; whatever.

And then arrives

An alternate view

To an optimistic few.

And a rosier future

Prevails.

As autumn brings a withering reminder

Of thoughtless, irretrievable syllables

This new Ship sails

To sites and sounds unknown.

A few have grown

And risen above the moan

Of grieving masses.

Life as must, moves on.
