GETTINGS, MY GETTINGS
Ode to my Birth-Mother
Esther Mae Gettings – Oakes.
By Lee Broom from The Line.

These Gettings now gotten

Ungotten, what for?

Seem, now that they’re gotten

Substantially more.

Behold these begettings

These Gettings of mine

Remember how hidden

These Gettings, so fine,

Ungotten these Gettings

Unlovely, unreal

Now, soft as new cotton

Stroke

Breathe

Feel.

My Gettings.

HANGIN’ OUT WITH A HIPPIE HOPPER

Curious Abner spoke about

The Psychedelic Toad.

Like LSD he said reflecting

The Toad was Overload.

Some Toads have this poison

Exuding from their backs;

If licked in careful quantities

Will make ya Super Max,

(Distorting all the facts).

Curious Abner tried it out;

Toad lived up to his name.

SoAb did and sure enough,

He’s never been the same.

(He likes to wane and wax

While playing on his sax.)

What else could he do?

He’s talkin’ to a buncha drunks.

Whadda they know?

HI, HOW ARE YA?

Lee_Broom

HI, HOW ARE YA?

When I turn to God and say “Hello” and He answers “Hi, How are ya?”

I  look a little closer; Who will he be tomorrow?

Today he may be Clara, tomorrow perhaps Claude

The next day may be Manny; yesterday was Maude.

I really don’t know What or Who or even When or If God Is.

What I do know is that when I call on God I find Love.

When I Accept that Love I find Knowledge.

When I apply that Knowledge I find Friendship.

When I share that Friendship I discover more Love.

BUFFALO BILL DISCOURAGES A FLY AND A GNAT WITH A SINGLE SWAT

On display for all to see who were able,

”It is I”

Said the natty, gnat, gnat on the nose of the fly

Who was perched on the nose of an irritable guy; “Take that”.

And Buffalo Bill, he swatted away

At the fly on his nose,

And the gnat (there he goes),

As his world went awry, said “goodbye”.

And Buffalo Bill with the tie in his hand

Completed the Windsor knot.

“handsome is as handsome does”

(He loved this tie a lot),

Except for the spot

Where the fly had lit

(Didn’t miss that fly one little bit)

So happy was he that the fly was gone.

The gnat by the way was again In the way.

And the hand of the man went SWAT once again

And returned to the glass for one last view

Perfecting the knot said “Look at you

My, my;

You are a handsome man.”
